Redesign · October 2026 Round 2 · Hero direction Variation H2

Every child builds their own little superhero

Build-a-Hero

Each child picks a kid superhero who looks like a kid, and can look like them: curls, braids with beads, glasses, a hijab, an afro puff, or an animal buddy if they prefer. The cape colour becomes the child's own colour across the app: Sam's podium, Play button and screens are teal, Noor's are gold. The hero grows with them: known words move them from Rookie to Super to Mega hero. Grown-ups get two plain doors, and nothing outside a running game asks for a sum or PIN.

Real words for real life

Apple, cup, dog, shoes… the everyday words your child needs, with real pictures.

1 · Real wordsThe hero squad loops on the stage, with real word pictures floating around it, so “everyday words” needs no explaining.

Tiny steps, big wins

Each word goes from listening to finding to reading, one small step at a time. No rush, no timers.

2 · Tiny stepsThe hero climbs blocks to a star. The 15-dot track is the same one grown-ups later see in Progress.

Rewards they love

Stars fill up while they play. Then they pick a favourite video, and back to words.

3 · RewardsFive stars fill the board, then a favourite video. The same rewards for every child.

  1. Sit together the first time.
  2. Turn the sound on.
  3. Guided Access (iPhone) or screen pinning (Android) keeps them in the game.

Some children prefer animals. A buddy has no cape, so this tab shows one row of colour dots to pick the child's colour.
